Building & Construction Disputes

We deliver specialist expert advice in the domestic and commercial spheres to home owners, developers, builders, architects, engineers, service providers, suppliers and insurers.

Unlike any other industry, the intersection of commercial and legal rights, means that every step in a building project needs to take into account competing interests and requirements. Our team is well placed to help you navigate the minefield.

Our persistent passion and understanding of the latest developments in the industry has allowed us to successfully represent many individuals and private companies in addition to some of Australia’s largest building companies.

Areas we cover are:

Building & Construction

Our building and construction team is led by an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation with a sub-specialty in Building and Construction Law.

This includes advising about:

  • insurance (including home warranty insurance and plant, project and annual works insurance)
  • financing arrangements
  • contract administration and dispute resolution (including advice about variations, extensions of time and RFI’s)
  • debt recovery (including claims made under security of payment legislation)
  • defective works.

Unlike any other industry, the intersection of commercial and legal rights, means that every step in a building project needs to take into account competing interests and requirements. Our team is well placed to help you navigate the minefield.

Business: Buy and Sell

The sale of a business often involves transferring a wide variety of asset types and creating a wide range of obligations on both the purchaser and the vendor of the business. Whether you are purchasing or selling a business, you need to be informed about your legal rights and obligations to ensure that you get what you paid for or you are selling what you think you are selling.

We understand the importance of the relationship between the vendor and the purchaser and reaching an agreement that preserves the value and profitability of the business being purchased while delivering appropriate compensation to the vendor.

We routinely draft contracts for the sale of business; including negotiating the terms of the sale; and identifying and advising on potential legal issues arising from the sale.

Property: Buy & Sell

We understand that real estate transactions are becoming increasingly complex and that is why our approach is to work side by side with our clients through each step of the process.

Our service starts prior to the exchange of contract. We believe that it is vital to work with you closely and place emphasis on giving clear advice so as to ensure the transaction is binding and complies with the relevant statutory requirements.

We advise on the acquisition and disposal of investment properties, interstate and international transactions as well as related disciplines including finance and corporate issues.

We are committed to getting your deals completed effectively.
