Karla Brenner

Karla practises in class actions, representing plaintiffs, litigation funders and contradictors in State Supreme and Federal Courts.

The subject matter of these claims includes shareholder disputes, breaches of trustee obligations, tort, employment law, allegations of unconscionable conduct and misleading and deceptive conduct. 


Who I work with and what I do
Karla has experience in developing significant class actions from due diligence investigations through to evidence and trial preparation, to settlement application and approval. 

In acting for litigation funders, Karla has worked obtaining approval in settlement applications before the Victorian and New South Wales Supreme Courts and the Federal Court of Australia. 

Karla also worked as part of the team on behalf of the contradictors in the Johnson & Johnson pelvic mesh class action. In providing evidence and submissions about the fairness and reasonableness of the settlement proposed, Karla was also involved in the first Court-ordered tender for settlement administration in Australia. 

Prior to joining William Roberts Lawyers, Karla worked on several class actions and appellate matters in the Federal Court of Australia and instructed in the High Court of Australia. 

What I like to do

Karla enjoys getting out to Sydney’s galleries and theatres. Having grown up in Melbourne, Karla also enjoys heading to the AFL.
