Alexander Bogaty

 
Alex is a member of the class actions practice where his work regularly involves representing Australian businesses, consumers, and shareholders.
 
These matters range across various industries including construction, financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing. Alex’s role involves frequent collaboration with other law firms and publicly listed litigation funders. He is directly involved in William Roberts’ investigations into potential class action proceedings.   


Who I work with and what I do
Alex has been involved in:

  • The Sims Metals Class Action (Eckardt v Sims Ltd [2022] FCA 1609) which achieved settlement approval in December 2022 for $29.5 million.
  • He assisted the team representing Litigation Lending Services’ application to settle the class action between Victorian, South Australian, and Tasmanian farmers and Fonterra Australia Pty Ltd (Iddles & Anor v Fonterra Australia Pty Ltd & Ors S ECI 2020 02588) in the Supreme Court of Victoria. 
  • He is working alongside law firm Phi Finney McDonald in the ongoing shareholder class action concerning pharmaceutical company Mesoblast Ltd (Horsky and Oil Surveillance Australia Pty Ltd ATF D.A Lynch Superfund v Mesoblast Limited (VID268/2022).
  • He is currently assisting in the combustible cladding class actions (The Owners – Strata Plan No 87231 v 3A Composites GmbH & Anor NSD215/2019 & The Owners – Strata Plan 91086 v Fairview Architectural Pty Ltd NSD940/2019) in the Federal Court of Australia.
Alex’s work investigating potential class action proceedings frequently brings him into contact with internationally recognised industry experts, and Australia’s largest litigation funding organisations.

 
Where I studied
I have a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Australian National University.

What I like to do
Alex likes to stay active and regularly boulders, hikes, and plays squash. He’s is a passionate supporter of the arts and will never say no to dancing to live music or exploring a new gallery.
