On International Women’s Day 2026, William Roberts Lawyers had the pleasure of hosting a luncheon with the Hon Justice Jacqueline Gleeson of the High Court of Australia. Her Honour’s reflections on women in commercial law explored an important question: how far have we come and where to from here? – A thoughtful and inspiring conversation, and a reminder of the role we all play in supporting progress in our profession.

Continuing the tradition in 2025, William Roberts welcomed Mary Walker OAM for this year’s International Women’s Day event. Ms Walker spoke on the evolution of the legal profession through her lens as a barrister and negotiator, tying her insights into this year’s theme: “March Forward: It’s Time to Turn Promises Into Progress.” Ms Walker shared insights from her journey, detailing the challenges and triumphs she faced while climbing the professional ladder in her Legal Career, from her days as a Law Clerk, up to her current post as a Barrister within the ADR space. Ms Walker also touched on the important technical skills with Negotiation in legal matters. Ms Walker’s inspiring story is a reminder of the incredible strides women continue to make in the workplace.Mary Walker OAM

To celebrate International Women’s Day, on 8 March 2024, the Committee hosted the Hon. Justice Elizabeth Peden of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Justice Peden generously shared reflections from her distinguished 30+ year career, with a focus on her work in contract, commercial and evidence law. Her Honour provided us with an insight into her journey to being appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of NSW, and discussed key statistics relating to Women in the Legal profession.
