William Roberts Lawyers name Gavin Beardsell as new Principal Consultant as part of their continued growth and expansion plan.
Gavin Beardsell joins William Roberts in the role of Principal Consultant, commencing on 22 August 2025. Gavin will be primarily based in the Sydney office.
Gavin comes to William Roberts with a wealth of experience in law spanning over 30 years. Gavin’s experience is in litigation funding and corporate leadership, having been a Senior Investment Manager and Legal Counsel at Omni Bridgeway where he originated and managed some of their largest litigation finance investments.
His portfolio included high-profile shareholder, product liability, biosecurity, and construction-related class actions in Australia and New Zealand, with claims exceeding AUD5 billion. He also played a key role in Omni Bridgeway’s expansion into New Zealand and its secondary market transactions for multi-billion-dollar claims.
Prior to joining Omni Bridgeway, Gavin was a Partner at leading insurance law firms in the UK and Australia, representing major insurers, corporates, and financial institutions in complex, high-value disputes.
At BLM in London, he led the firm’s response to major legal reforms regarding conditional costs and defended high stakes claims and appeals.
After relocating to Australia, he continued his insurance law practice as a Partner at Gilchrist Connell and later as a Senior Consultant at Clyde & Co in Sydney, advising on securities and financial services litigation, professional indemnity claims, and class actions brought in the Federal Court of Australia and State Supreme Courts.
Gavin is dual-qualified in England & Wales and Australia (NSW). He holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Exeter and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law with Distinction from the College of Law.
