Rachel Ruan
I am currently undertaking the Juris Doctor (JD) at Melbourne Law School. During my undergraduate degree, I studied a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Melbourne. Prior to joining William Roberts Lawyers, I was a legal assistant at a boutique law firm, working across a diverse range of matters involving commercial disputes, wills & estates, conveyancing, and migration.
Who I work with and what I do
My work primarily involves subrogated insurance matters. My experience includes assisting with matters concerning:
- subrogated motor vehicle insurance claims (both settlements and recovery);
- indemnity and insurance contract disputes;
- subrogated property damage recoveries;
- building and construction disputes; and
- class actions.
Some notable matters in which I have been involved with include a multi-million dollar building dispute concerning a set of luxury apartments in the Melbourne bayside area; a complex contractual dispute concerning a heritage house in Melbourne’s southeast.
Where I studied
I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne, and I am currently completing the Juris Doctor, also at the University of Melbourne.
What I like to do
I volunteer with several youth focused health and education charities and am passionate about empowering youth through education. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring Melbourne’s brunch scene, listening to audiobooks, and going on long hikes with my golden retriever, Max.
