Cheyann De Jong

I joined William Roberts Lawyers in August 2020 and represent insurers across a range of jurisdictions.

Prior to joining William Roberts, I gained experience at a large law firm, working in various areas of personal injury law such as public liability, medical law and motor vehicle claims. During and after my time at university, I enjoyed volunteering at various community legal centres such as JobWatch Employment Rights Legal Centre and the Mental Health Legal Centre.

Who I work with and what I do

My main area of practice principally involves subrogated property and motor vehicle recoveries and settlements. I have gained recent experience involving debt recovery and enforcements in jurisdictions within New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia. I have also appeared in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria on behalf of subrogated insurers.

Where I studied

I hold a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Media) from the Australian Catholic University. I have also completed my PLT at Leo Cussen Centre for Law and was admitted to practice in October 2019.

What I like to do

I love spending time with my family and friends. My weekends almost always revolve around food, from learning how to make Sri Lankan dishes from my parents to making the most of the food culture that Melbourne has to offer.
