Aniket is a commercial litigator who has represented individuals, corporations, trustees and estates in civil and commercial disputes, and lead applicants and litigation funders in class actions.
Who I work with and what I do
Aniket currently acts for clients in a number of shareholder and consumer class actions, as well as engaging in ongoing investigations into potential class actions or other similar proceedings.
Prior to working at William Roberts Lawyers, Aniket gained experience across a range of matters including debt recovery, insolvency, building & construction, property, wills & estates, and general commercial disputes.
Aniket is currently working on:
- the shareholder class action concerning pharmaceutical company Mesoblast Ltd (Horsky and Oil Surveillance Australia Pty Ltd ATF D.A. Lynch Superfund v Mesoblast Limited VID268/2022)
- the consumer class action concerning online social casino games provided and/or developed by Aristocrat Leisure Limited and its subsidiaries, Big Fish Games and Product Madness (Nicole Preece v Aristocrat & Ors (VID1105/2023)
- the consumer class action concerning the supply of CFDs and binaries to retail investors by IG Markets Limited and IG Australia Pty Ltd (James Slater & Anor v IG Markets Limited & Anor (VID301/2023)
- the shareholder class action concerning integrated services company Downer EDI (Justine and Cameron Lidgett v Downer EDI Limited (S ECI 2023 01835)
Aniket’s experience includes:
- instructing counsel in a 7-day hearing at the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal, in a domestic building dispute which ultimately settled
- preparing and assisting in the preparation of complex advices, notes and pleadings in a wide range of matters on topics such as enforcement in a foreign jurisdiction, Mareva Injunctions, limitation and jurisdictional issues
- instructing counsel in the Federal Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court, Supreme Court of Victoria, County Court of Victoria, Magistrates’ Court of Victoria, Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal
- appearing in the County Court of Victoria, Magistrates’ Court of Victoria and Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal
- acting for clients and instructing counsel to act for clients in a number of mediations, conciliations and pre-hearing conferences
What I like to do
Aniket is an avid AFL fan and is a long-standing member of the St Kilda Football Club. Alongside attending AFL games, he also actively follows a number of sports and enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle.
In his downtime, Aniket regularly reads, tries new cuisines, and is very involved in the local electronic music scene where he runs events, performs and is currently learning to produce his own music
