Ian Wylie

   

Ian is an experienced commercial litigator and advisor. He was a barrister at the New South Wales Bar for many years, following partnership in two top tier national and international legal firms.

Who I work with and what I do
Ian has conducted complex commercial litigation in all major Australian jurisdictions, both:
• Leading and managing strategy and preparation as law firm partner; and
• Advising and appearing as counsel.

Ian has advised and represented clients in a wide range of industry sectors, including:
• ADR and other dispute resolution management and strategy;
• ACCC and ASIC Federal, Full Federal and High Court enforcement action;
• Class actions (representative proceedings);
• Commonwealth and State regulatory investigations and tribunal proceedings;
• Competition and consumer protection, superior court, and appellate litigation, between major national and multinational corporations.
• Intellectual property, superior court and appellate enforcement litigation between large and small corporations and individuals.
• Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, marine and other insurance, and reinsurance disputes; and
• State Supreme Court Commercial and Equity Division claims, and similar general commercial contract, tort, equitable and statutory claims and appeals in Federal and State jurisdictions.

Ian established Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law Australia Litigation, Dispute Resolution, and Competition and Consumer Protection Law on-line platform services in 2017, and has otherwise presented and published widely, particularly in those areas of law. Ian is a member of the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia and various other professional associations.

What I like to do
Ian surfs and runs, and has keen interests in wine and winemaking, rugby union and athletics.
