Joseph Sammut

I practice in motor vehicle and property damage insurance disputes, class actions and commercial litigation across various jurisdictions.

Prior to joining William Roberts Lawyers, I was a Paralegal at King & Wood Mallesons, where I worked on large commercial construction disputes with legal teams across the globe, assisted in drafting construction and building contracts and transactional property matters.

Who I work with and what I do

I have extensive experience in acting for institutional insurance clients such as Allianz Insurance Australia, QBE Insurance, Insurance Australia Group and Auto & General Insurance in recovery and settlement of property damage and motor vehicle accident disputes.

I have experience in representing litigation funding companies in large class actions. I am currently involved in the Suncorp Super Class Action commenced in the Supreme Court of New South Wales by class members against Suncorp Super and its former directors for the alleged charging of conflicted remunerations.

My other experience includes advising private clients on various commercial disputes including directors’ duties, lease agreements and contractual disputes.

Where I studied

I have a Bachelor of Law degree from Griffith University.

What I like to do

I am (unapologetically) a complete sports tragic. I love all sports from all corners of the globe, although I would argue that I am a better spectator than player. Whilst I do enjoy all sports, my favourite sport is Rugby League.
I also love to travel to new destinations and to go sightseeing. My travels have taken me to Europe, both the Americas, Asia, North , where I have my sights set on Scandinavia.
