Katrina Li

I have been practising in commercial litigation since 2015 and joined William Roberts Lawyers in 2017. My current practice includes shareholder class actions and other representative proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme Court of New South Wales.

I work with a range of corporate and individual clients as well as litigation funders. More broadly, I have advised senior management at major international banking and financial institutions and acted for insurer clients of the firm, concerning non-class action litigation matters.

Prior to joining William Roberts Lawyers, I worked for three years at international and boutique law firms in dispute resolution and commercial law. I also spent time working in academia, teaching Corporations Law at the University of Sydney and my work has been peer-reviewed and published.

Who I work with and what I do

I manage complex multi-party commercial litigation, specialising in class actions, with experience in the preliminary investigation and case theory development of new matters through to the preparation of pleadings, discovery and evidence. I am currently working on claims made against:

  • superannuation funds for the payment of conflicted remuneration to financial advisers;
  • an ASX-listed metals recycler for misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of its statutory obligations; and
  • the manufacturers of combustible cladding distributed in Australia.

I have also advised ASX-listed companies, corporations and private clients on potential actions against contracting parties, breaches of directors’ duties and disputes involving alleged contraventions of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

Where I studied

I have a Master of Laws, Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of Sydney.

What I like to do

I enjoy painting on canvas in my spare time and trying out new recipes on my unsuspecting family.
