Background

Carlos is a Director of William Roberts Lawyers. He joined the firm in 2006 and is an integral member of the William Roberts team in both professional legal expertise and in an invaluable mentoring capacity for Junior Solicitors.
Carlos regularly appears in the Federal Court, Supreme Court, District and Local Courts, as well as various Federal and State Tribunals.

Areas of Practice
Building and Construction
Carlos acted for a major builder in a disputed construction contract. Carlos was able to achieve a result whereby the opponent capitulated and agreed to the entry of an unequivocal judgment against it.
Carlos acted for home owners against a major residential construction company in the Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal. The matter was mediated and resulted in the construction company purchasing the home from the owners at market value.
Carlos acted for home owners against a large residential pool builder. The matter was litigated in the Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal, and was resolved satisfactorily for the client.
Commercial Litigation
Carlos acted for a major national insurer in relation to a dispute with a supplier concerning the liability to pay for over 200 disputed projects.
Carlos managed a matter which was litigated in the District Court of NSW on behalf of Blue Mountains City Council in the NSW Court of Appeal.
Carlos has acted for the disgruntled investors in a property development company in conducting examinations of directors under the Corporations Act.
Carlos appeared as an advocate in an application by a bankrupt to annul a bankruptcy entered into by way of debtor's petition. It was the first case of it's kind and Carlos was able to successfully argue against the annulment and obtain an indemnity for the trustee's costs out of the assets of the estate.
Debt Recovery
Carlos operates a significant debt recovery practice in which he often undertakes his own advocacy rather than briefing counsel.

Carlos advises numerous clients on legislative instruments.
